Video: How ‘Being Exceptional’ can Impact your Business

In this video, I talk about a recent trip to Wendy’s, a honeybun, and some photoshopping. It all adds up to being exceptional and what it could mean for your business and relationships.

By the way, welcome back to the blog. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the support. And as always, feel free to drop me a line sometime.

D, last week I began a kindness journal and blogged about it: http://christianfiction.blogspot.com/2008/09/pay-it-forward-fall-start-kindness.html. As a result a few of my friends are doing it with me.

When I watched your vid today it parallels with that post and the way I live my business, my art, my motherhood…my life. For me what I do is an extension of God’s grace and an opportunity to fellowship with people who need to know about the great people I know. What I have found is that it only takes a small thing to make someone’s life matter. I impart this attitude to my daughter by an example for her. I am blessed to have witnessed that she is far sweeter and kinder than me, and that makes my heart glad.

Congratulations on your endeavor. Alejandro is Big Fun and a great kind guy. :)

Thanks for letting me know about your kindness journal. That is an absolutely fantastic idea. I might have to start one soon, myself. And like you said: it only takes the small things. I know your daughter is developing into a wonderful young lady. She has a wonderful mom to learn from :-)

Deontee, WOW….this is a great video. It so totally explains the Law of Reciprocity…..give with no expectation of receiving anything….what an awesome way to make a difference in the lives of everyone that we cross paths with.

I have been blessed beyond words by attracting, first Alejandro, and then you to me. Both of you are an inspiration to me and just really cools folks to connect with.

Thanks for sharing such a great message !!

Best regards,

Rose Mis

Hey Deontee! Just met you on Twitter so I wanted to check out your blog. Finished watching this vid and you made some great points.

I love doing good for someone without reciprocation. I’m a full believer of karma and those ‘exceptional’ things, like you said, definitely come back around to you in one way or another.

Alejandro is definitely a cool guy btw!

See ya around D.

First of all isn’t just being a fly brother sporting sweet aviators exceptional enough?

I enjoyed our chat this evening and I’m definitely looking forward to your guest contribution to my blog.

I really, really enjoyed this video (and I don’t typically watch videos much longer than 5 minutes). The thing about being exceptional is that in retrospect it isn’t that hard and yet so few people (and companies) care enough to make that kind of impact on other people’s lives.

Zig Ziglar said it best when he said, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”

You ‘get it’ and for that reason you’re well on your way to making great things happen. Keep up the phenomenal work!

And finally, I’m so glad you went to Wendy’s because I was going to virtual slap you if you were going to McDonalds to get a McRib.

You nailed it! It’s all about reciprocity. Giving without expectations. Or, as our politicians would put it… “giving without preconditions.” Ever since I decided to make that concept central to what I was doing, the success followed. Everyday I’m getting closer to another goal. It’s a beautiful thing. And what’s also beautiful is the number of marvelous people I’ve been able to connect with (and you already know that includes you). :-)

Gill

Hey my Twitter bro. Thanks for taking the time to check out one of my crazy vids. If more people adopted “karmic principles” in their business, things would change dramatically for the better. Thanks again for the comment, bro. Hope to see you around and to chat with you more.

Haha! Thanks for swingin’ by the blog, buddy. And while the aviators may be cool, it was you who inspired me to “step my game up.” I mean, really… I have to get on your level someday. I couldn’t agree more with your point about the need for more people and companies to embrace the truth of impacting others. That Zig Ziglar quote sums it up brilliantly. Thanks for sharing it. That’s what I’ve decide to focus my life and business around. I guess that philosophical alignment prevented me from getting a McRib that night (lol).
